I've read that medicated balms can reduce feeling in the lips; on one occasion, a trumpet player split his lip because he didn't have any lip sensitivity. Essentially, I need a lip balm that is thin, and won't cause problems with daily use.

Don't know if anyone has pointed this out, since the brains here tend more to physics than English, but there's a glaring homonym error in the final sentence of this post. I'm sure the poster intended to say "free rein" as with the harness guiding a horse, than "free reign," which is what errant kings enjoy.

The article says that Matthew hopes to be admited to either Cal-Tech or MIT next year. Either one of those institutions will do well to have a student like Matthew in their halls and classrooms -- assuming those institutions can give him free reign, as opposed to grinding his brain into orthodox forms of thinking.
