I spent the afternoon today at Monteplier, James Madison's recently restored estate near Orange, VA. Another perfect fall day. You're not supposed to take pictures of the interior, but I figured this was OK since it's really a picture of the exterior. This is the view through the 200-year-old glass in James and Dolley Madison's bedroom. Ten feet behind where this picture was taken, the US Constitution was (mostly) written in the winter and spring of 1786-87.
