I'm still getting static (in the form of snarky comments) to that "Nobel Laureates Endorse Obama" post from a couple of months ago, so I'm leery of making "political" posts in this this space. But this isn't politics, it's just "news." (And rather old news at that, the dateline is like 10 days ago....)
"Today, more than ever before, science holds the key to our survival as a planet and our security and prosperity as a nation," Obama said in a weekly radio and video address.
"It's time we once again put science at the top of our agenda and worked to restore America's place as the world leader in science and technology."
Obama's comments were a clear reference to President George W. Bush's administration which has been accused of downplaying scientific findings on climate change and genetic research.
Now, before anybody gets riled up and posts a comment about the new president's middle name or the former domestic terrorists in his neighborhood, kindly recall this statement, attributed to John Wayne in the wake of the 1961 inauguration of John F. Kennedy:
Which is really all anybody can ask for at this juncture.

After eight years of "He's not my President!" coming from the left I plan to treat our incoming President with the open arms and mind that the Democrats treated our current President.

The Man Made Global Warming (MaMa GloW) HOAX is all about politics and money.
The politicians want to scare you so that they can take your hard money and spend it on these dopey MaMa GloW schemes.

Hi Paul,
The reason you get so much "snark" is because the few conservative individuals purveying those responses would be out of their league on the big political blogs. It's just poorly-informed noise for the most part. Don't mind it.
This is your blog, and unlike the fusor forum that you host here, it is an appropriate platform for whatever you want to talk about.

Socialists have the better economic arguments - at first glance.
Conservatives have better economic results over the long run.
You need only look at the bills coming due for the various government Ponzi schemes around the world. Or the recent results in America of the government's efforts to help poor people with bad credit ratings buy homes.
But hey if the new guy does a good job and doesn't get indicted for his corrupt practices in Illinois I'll be all for him.
However, Nixon/Ford/Carter says what he is doing will lead to inflation and stagnant economic growth.
However, all that said I do wish him well and I hope he does well. Maybe his plan to bankrupt the coal industry will not lead to a third world electrical supply in America. Maybe solar at 30 cents a KWh will really be good for charging Plug in Hybrids at night. You never know.

... James Lovelock. ... the originator of the Gaia theory ...
Most of the "green" stuff is verging on a gigantic scam. Carbon trading, with its huge government subsidies, is just what finance and industry wanted. It's not going to do a damn thing about climate change, but it'll make a lot of money for a lot of people ...

It's all about the power and the money. Political power being used to take your money to be spent on this giant scam.
Don't believe me - ask James Lovelock.

Carbon Dioxide irrelevant in climate debate says MIT Scientist
...
Professor Richard Lindzen of MIT’s peer reviewed work states “we now know that the effect of CO2 on temperature is small, we know why it is small, and we know that it is having very little effect on the climate.”
...
The global surface temperature record, which we update and publish
every month, has shown no statistically-significant “global warming”
for almost 15 years. Statistically-significant global cooling has now
persisted for very nearly eight years. Even a strong el Nino – expected
in the coming months – will be unlikely to reverse the cooling trend.

Global Warming - CO2, what a gas; - It doesn't cause global warming.
Rising CO2 is associated with "Statistically-significant global cooling."
No worries, global socialist climate kooks can now claim rising CO2 will create the next ice age and you should give them all your $$$ to prevent global cooling.
